UPLOAD SPEEDS

Tue May 24, 2011, 9:54 AM
No Llamas please

Upload speeds

Is anyone else sick and fed up with the terribly slow upload speeds we seem to be getting lately? Sometimes I sit and wait for 1/2 an hour, like right now on my other PC. Evenings are an absolute no go. WHY? Please tell me. I have a fast internet connection of 20mb and am also a member of RedBubble where a massive upload of 15mb takes a few seconds.

If it is due to the number of people uploading at a particular time, then as we pay membership fees then for goodness sakes increase the bandwidth.

Since I started this journal, the submission page has stopped completely. So I have restarted all over again. Some success this time, however my nerves are frayed now. It really has taken over 1/2 an hour to upload an image just over 4mb in size.

Comments please...

I use the ftp service available to premium members via FileZilla [link]
It is lightening fast and simple to set up: It needs a user name (your DA name, i.e. karlajkitty) & password (your DA password), and you connect using your DA name@ftp.deviantart.com (i.e. karlajkitty@ftp.deviantart.com).

Just drag your files over using the FileZilla interface - then go to your DA page/click "submit", and your files will be waiting for you!

I shall have to try it, however I can only usually manage one image. Isn't this for lots of images at one go?

I usually just upload 1 image myself as well. It just sends them (it) to your submit folder on DA.

I hadn't uploaded anything for a while until just recently and I found that it did go slow, I only got one image uploaded while I was at work due to it taking so long the other day. But on the other hand, the odd few seem to be OK!? It might just be internet traffic but I haven't a clue.

I've had the same complaint for a while now! It doesn't seem like their going to do anything about it soooo I think maybe I should just stop uploading prints here and just sell prints on Zazzle and RedBubble!

By the way...I was just searching Google for where my images are and found some interesting sites!! [link] This one has a whole page of my stuff and I found a lot of yours Rozrr and many many others from DA!!

I actually wrote to thank them for the extra free publicity some months ago. I did ask if the would be kind enough to add a link to dA, however not worried in the slightest about this. I just hope it brings our work to more peoples attention. It seem to be a well made site. No doubt many will be complaining. There is no point, this is the world wide web.
