This lot were here when I opened the back door to let my cat out. I phoned the RSPB, they told me to leave them until they can find their way out and round to the lake at the front of the house. There are 11 babies. I have fed and watered, I just hope all the cats round here don't have a field day with the munchies. My own cat is sat looking through the see through part of her locked cat door riveted to the wonderful view. I cannot let her out at all. If I put her out the front door she will be back round the back in no time at all. So she is pretty pissed off at me. I hope some of these little babies manage to survive. The mama duck must have thought it was a safe place to have a nest. As the top part of my terraced garden is overgrown she will have been in there somewhere. Serves me right for complaining about how the wildlife has been dying off on the lake. My garden pond is not big enough for them to all fit on either. However I expect they will try as soon as they can get to it. I keep thinking of all the poop there will be if they don't find a way out soon. Sunken garden all bricked around. Impossible. as they are so small.
I think you have talent. Hope you don't mind an almost 68 year old grandmother watching you??? I thought you would like the duck family... I don't think they all survived though...
oh, they look so very fluffy - cute... we had a duck breeding at the side of our brook... rebecca and me were watchig her every day on rebs's way back from the school bus... until . one day she was off and some eggs were broken and some lay in the water... someone must have spoiled the nest, what a shame... but some years ago we had to gooslings(?) in our garden... they were very cute... but as they grew up they started to tear out and eat all flowers and in fact covered the whole garden with their poop - so we gave them away to a farmer, who had geese himself...
